Students in St. Luke’s School Engineering with Electronics class created adaptive devices for residents of The Inn, Waveny’s independent living community. After a previous visit with residents, the students developed prototypes of their ideas, including a a fall detection device with an audible alert that clips to a belt or pants, a tool to “sweep” under the bed for dropped items, and a closet device to lower items with the touch of a button to an easier position to retrieve, and . Such creativity with true real-world application to make the lives of our seniors a little safer and easier!
