Waveny LifeCare Network COVID-19 Daily Update

for Residents, Patients, and Families

Today we received encouraging reports that our clinical protocols are producing patient conversions from positive to negative COVID-19 PCR tests results. This coupled with their increased production of antibodies signaled by high Immunoglobulin G serum levels—thereby signaling not only their recuperation but their improved defense mechanism. Your loved ones’ nurse manager will be able to share with you their results if they were recently tested.

While we test and screen symptomatic staff from exposure to residents and staff here, to further augment Waveny LifeCare Network’s rigorous protocols, personal protective equipment usage, and isolation standards, we will begin PCR testing our entire asymptomatic Employee base this Wednesday May 20th on the Waveny Farm Road campus.

With the announced opening of many of our town’s and local community services on May 20th, this is critical to reinforce community-based COVID-19 transmission mitigation tactics, including stay-at-home, public congregation, travel restrictions, and ongoing Waveny stringent internal preventive, care and recuperative protocols. It’s also consistent with clinical and public advocacy research that indicates widespread COVID-19 testing can promote improved virus containment, tracking and reporting.

Therapeutic Recreation and Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapies have never been discontinued.  Our own Therapeutic Recreational staff took full advantage of the much-awaited pleasant weather by accompanying our clients outside to enjoy it. Your nursing supervisor will have specific medical details on your family member. Please continue to reach out to them on clinical issues, and to me on non-clinical issues or questions.
