Waveny Invites Community to “Young at Art” Resident Art Show
Posted on May 14, 2015
Waveny’s residents are “Young at Art,” and they invite you to see their colorful creations on display at the ‘Young at Art’ Resident Art Show at Waveny LifeCare Network on Thursday, May 28 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. on “Main Street” at The Village at Waveny, 3 Farm Road, New Canaan, Conn.
“We’re not beginners,” said Gloria, one of Waveny’s resident artists who will be exhibiting several pieces in the upcoming art show. “And, art is one thing we all have in common.”
The collection will represent a body of work created over the past year by Waveny Care Center and Village residents and Adult Day participants in the art programs and classes led by art therapist and Waveny therapeutic recreation leader, Brenda Jacobsen.
“Art is a way we can express our thoughts instead of saying them out loud,” said resident artist, Hazel, who will also have several pieces featured. “It’s a different way of speaking. And, each one of us excels at something different.”
Pieces on display will encompass multiple mediums including watercolor, pastels and colored pencil. “It’s an honor,” said Waveny artist, Rose, with regard to showcasing her work for the community.
