“Hearing Loss” is the next topic in the Norwalk Hospital lecture series to be held at Waveny Care Center in New Canaan on Thursday, May 17 at 4:00 p.m. The featured speaker is Robert L. Weiss, MD, FACS, of Weston, otolaryngologist at Norwalk Hospital, and Director, Connecticut Center for Advanced ENT located at i.park, 761 Main Avenue in Norwalk.

Dr. Weiss will provide an overview on hearing loss, which often occurs gradually as people age.  He will cover types of hearing loss, risk factors, symptoms, tests and treatments.  He will also provide advice on the prevention of hearing loss.  His presentation will conclude with a question and answer session.

About the Speaker

Dr. Weiss is a board certified otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon.  After graduating summa cum laude from Adelphi University, he received his MD Degree from Penn State University College of Medicine.  He completed a residency in surgery and in otolaryngology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.  Dr. Weiss received unique training at the Schneider’s Children’s Hospital in New Hyde Parke, NY.

Following his residency training, he served as a medical officer in the United States Air Force where he received the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal.  His military medical experience treating Air Force pilots and crew helped develop his insight and clinical understanding of the inner workings of the inner ear and sinuses.  Dr. Weiss has served on the teaching faculty in the Otolaryngology Department of Louisiana State University Medical Center.  An affiliate member of the American Institute of Balance (AIB), he holds professional affiliations in seven prominent medical associations and societies and has been named for Connecticut Magazine’s prestigious “Top Docs” award for the fourth consecutive year.

Dr. Weiss and his senior audiologist, Dawn Boyce, MA, CCC/A, have been selected as Fairfield County’s only Audigy-certified audiological practice, a distinction that recognizes excellence in clinical practice and service to their patients.
