Waveny Care Network Honored by The WorkPlace, Inc. at 2011 Awards Ceremony

Waveny Care Network was recently honored by The WorkPlace, Inc. at an awards ceremony that celebrated achievements in career training by recognizing individuals and organizations throughout Southwestern Connecticut who have contributed to workforce development.
Held at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, Conn., the event recognized 116 individuals and organizations in eleven categories from towns throughout Southwestern Connecticut.
Nominated for its support of incumbent worker training and life-long learning, Waveny Care Network received a “Company of the Year” award for demonstrating an outstanding commitment to career education through support programs.
“Thanks to several generous grants received from The WorkPlace Inc. over the past few years, we have coordinated numerous training programs for our managers and front line staff members to provide career advancement and enrichment opportunities within the network,” said Joanne Boyer, Director of Development. “These programs continue to support and reinforce a culture of leadership, team building, training and mentoring as well as improving self confidence in our staff. We are grateful for the WorkPlace’s support and belief in our mission.”
The WorkPlace, Inc., Southwestern Connecticut’s Regional Workforce Development Board, builds projects that help people prepare for careers and strengthens the workplace for employers. It administers workforce development funds and coordinates providers of job training and education programs to meet the needs of residents and employers in our 20-community region.
Waveny Care Network provides a comprehensive continuum of healthcare to serve the growing needs of older adults from all areas. Waveny is a not-for-profit organization that offers independent living at New Canaan Inn, assisted living for people with Alzheimer’s and memory loss at The Village, and skilled nursing at Waveny Care Center. It also includes the Brown Geriatric Evaluation Clinic, a Geriatric Care Management team that provides 24-hour coverage, an Adult Day Program available six days a week with flexible hours and transportation from New Canaan, Stamford, Norwalk, Darien and Wilton, inpatient and outpatient Rehabilitation Services, and respite programs and hospice care at The Village and Care Center.
