Japan Society of Fairfield County Performs at Waveny

The Japan Society of Fairfield County performs for an audience of Waveny’s assisted living residents and Adult Day Program participants on “Main Street” at The Village at Waveny Care Center. Over the course of two days, members of the society demonstrated a traditional Bon Odori dance, held a Calligraphy class, and performed both a Japanese Tea Ceremony and a Kimono Show to a delighted audience.
The Japan Society of Fairfield County Shares Traditional Japanese Culture with Waveny Care Network New Canaan – Over the course of two days, the Japan Society of Fairfield County delighted residents and Adult Day Program participants within Waveny Care Network’s continuum of care with an array of entertaining and culturally rich performances on “Main Street” at The Village at Waveny Care Center.
On the first day, society members demonstrated rich Japanese culture through a performance of a traditional Bon Odori dance and a Japanese calligraphy class. The following day, the audience was treated to an elaborate demonstration of a traditional tea ceremony, which involved the ceremonial preparation and presentation of “matcha” – powdered green tea. A colorful Kimono show concluded the two-day cultural exhibition at Waveny.
