Waveny Day Participant Renews Wedding Vows on “Main Street” at The Village
Posted on June 22, 2018
Wedding bells were ringing when Waveny LifeCare Network’s residents, short-term rehab patients and Adult Day Program participants came together to observe and celebrate the wedding vow renewal of Stefan Antohi, a participant in the nonprofit eldercare organization’s Adult Day Program, and his wife of 21 years, JoAnn Labare.
The joyful couple walked down the aisle on “Main Street” at The Village, which was transformed into a beautiful wedding venue for the occasion, where Rev. Tom Lilly, Waveny’s Director of Spiritual Services, presided over their vows. The ceremony included a reaffirmation of love and commitment, and honored a native wedding tradition of Stefan’s, with him singing a traditional love song to JoAnn.
Stefan, a Romanian scientist, lived in Denmark for many years as a political refugee and later moved to the United States, where he met JoAnn, a Midwest native, while working at Mt. Sinai Hospital.
