Waveny’s Seniors Experience the ‘Legacy of Silvermine’
Posted on April 7, 2017
Residents from Waveny Care Center and The Village, along with participants from Waveny’s Adult Day Program, enjoyed two outings to Silvermine Arts Center to view the organization’s inaugural “Legacy of Silvermine” Exhibit, which honors the artwork of the Silvermine Guild’s artists, painters, sculptors, designers and printmakers over the age of 65, who have devoted decades of service to the guild – many for well over 35 years.
They enjoyed private docent tours by Jeff Mueller, Gallery Director, and Mindy Green, exhibition co-chair, board member and guild artist. The work of Jens Risom, furniture designer and former resident at The Inn, Waveny’s independent living community, was specially featured in the Legacy show. Waveny Care Center resident Gerry said, “Silvermine is an oasis of artists who have transformed their work so that everyone can enjoy their talent and happiness.”
