For 2 days, June 7 & 8th, the Town of New Canaan will come together for a community block party and go back to the summer that changed the world! More than 60 local retailers, eateries and businesses will participate and celebrate the legacy and spirit of New Canaan 50 years after the summer of love. This is a unique opportunity to STROLL, SHOP, EAT & ENJOY – and most of all – it’s a chance to LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE. The Inn's 11th Annual Musical Revue

On Tuesday, April 30th, Waveny staff, volunteers, past and present board members, family and friends joined residents at The Inn for their 11th Annual Musical Revue. The standing-room-only event delivered fabulously French-inspired entertainment to a packed house. Performances included singers, Can-can dancers, musicians, mimes and skits. The core of the show was led by the Inn’s resident choral group, the “Inn Notes” who rehearsed for several months to perfect their songs, skits and routines. Among their musical pieces were well-known French songs Clair de Lune, La Vie en Rose and selections from Moulin Rouge.…

Waveny LifeCare Network Announces Forever Generosity Campaign and Thanks Contributors

Waveny LifeCare Network thanked supporters at a celebration of community generosity on Thursday, October 25th and announced an important new initiative. Resident Bob Seelert, community-based business Bankwell, and Waveny’s food service partner Morrison Community Living were honored for their generous support and commitment to the organization, and special recognition was given to the late Louise Goodridge for a legacy gift. The public phase of the Forever Generosity campaign for Waveny was launched to provide enduring financial support for the people and programs that make Waveny unique.…

Waveny LifeCare Network’s Adult Day Program participants and assisted living residents from The Village recently took a fishing trip, where they enjoyed a relaxing summer day casting lines from the shore of Calf Pasture Beach. This outing was imagined and facilitated by avid fisherman Dontay Dempsey, who serves as Waveny’s Facility Operations Coordinator. Waveny LifeCare Network recognized its many volunteers for their individual contributions of time and talent throughout the Network, including Waveny Care Center, The Village at Waveny, the Adult Day Program and The Inn. More than 150 volunteers joined together on Waveny’s renowned ‘Main Street’ at The Village, in celebration of their service to the nonprofit eldercare organization throughout the year. Tom Ferguson has been elected to succeed Todd Lampert as Chairman of the board of directors for Waveny LifeCare Network, a nonprofit continuum of eldercare in New Canaan, Conn. Ferguson has been an active member of Waveny’s board since joining in 2014, and served most recently as Vice-Chairman under Lampert. Rich Bierman, Doug Gillespie and Rich Townsend have been elected Vice-Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer respectively. New members joining the Waveny board over the past year include Victor Liss, Tracey Hamill and Kathleen Corbet.…

On Wednesday, August 16, a dozen of Waveny LifeCare Network’s four-legged friends and their owners paraded down “Main Street” at The Village, the nonprofit eldercare organization’s assisted living residence, at Waveny’s annual dog show. Waveny and New Canaan Mounted Troop Launch Equine Care Pilot Program

New Canaan Mounted Troop and Waveny LifeCare Network launched a therapeutic four-week Equine Care pilot program for residents at both Waveny Care Center and The Village at Waveny, as well as participants in Waveny’s Adult Day Program. Led by New Canaan Mounted Troop’s PATH certified instructors, Waveny’s program participants groomed horses and learned about equine behaviors and nutrition. Timing of this therapeutic program follows a recently-published Ohio State University study that scientifically correlated time spent with horses on a farm with both physical and mental relief in subjects with Alzheimer’s disease and/or other neurocognitive issues.…

Waveny's Youngest Volunteer provides Technology Mentorship

Waveny LifeCare Network’s youngest volunteer, Henry Benton, recently provided technology mentorship to Waveny resident, Harvey Chandler, who was born in 1929. The 10 year old Saxe Middle School student’s lesson included laptop, iPad and smartphone use, and concluded with Mr. Chandler sending his first text to his son who immediately texted back to thank the young boy for teaching his dad about digital technology. Henry’s next lesson will involve Google Earth & Maps and hopefully Mr. Chandler’s first Skype session to connect with loved ones.…
