The Adult Day Program at Waveny Care Center is dedicated to improving the quality of life for older adults who are still living at home, but who may require personal assistance and medical monitoring throughout the day and/or more social interaction.

We welcome participants from the surrounding communities who would benefit from the personal care, high-quality professional services and engaging activities we provide in a secure and unique setting.

Given Waveny’s 30+ years of experience in senior care, we have a wealth of knowledge about the numerous community resources available for older adults and would be delighted to facilitate your access to them. We strive to help individuals stay in their homes for as long as possible.

What Makes Waveny Unique?

We offer a daily variety of program choices to accommodate a wide range of physical and cognitive functioning levels. Exercise classes, memory enhancement programs and other activities are grouped according to three levels of performance and interest so each participant can succeed while having fun and maximizing the benefits to his or her health.

Our Adult Day participants benefit from the immediate access they have to Waveny’s comprehensive network of professional experts and healthcare services. While they are attending the program, we can arrange for on-site rehabilitative therapy, geriatric evaluation, nutritional counseling, bathing, hairdressing and other services – all under the same roof.

Our medical professionals can evaluate and assist in monitoring most health issues, and facilitate access to services and programs within Waveny’s continuum of care, if desired.

"Main Street" at The Village

Unlike any other adult day program, our participants enjoy a special camaraderie with the residents from our assisted living facility. Each day, there are choices for all to share in recreational, physical and cultural activities on “Main Street” at The Village, our award-winning building that provides therapeutic benefits and replicates a quaint New England town.

In this secure and cheerful environment, participants are free to explore the general store, visit the ice cream parlor, relax near the exotic fish tank, take a walk in one of the gardens, or chat with a friend on one of the many park benches.

Participants also enjoy numerous cultural and entertainment programs on Main Street.

The Adult Day Program at Waveny Care Center is a medical model program that is certified by the Connecticut Association of Adult Day Centers (CAADC). This means it has met or exceeded all of the demanding standards and State association criteria established to receive third-party funding. Certified and licensed staff – which include a licensed nurse, social worker, therapeutic recreation therapists and professional caregivers – manage the program.
